HELP TOPIC
How to Attach Files to an Email Message
The following instructions, images, illustrations, and outline are based on the use of a PC computer operating under the Microsoft Windows 11 operating system. The details and images in these instructions may vary if you are using a different computer, operating system, or electronic device; for example, if you are using a PC computer operating under the Windows 10 operating system, or if you are using an Apple/Macintosh device. The general concepts and procedures should apply to any similar device, however. We will use the pictures from the Peanuts Wisdom example project in the illustrations for the following instructions. You can view the Peanuts Wisdom example project (and other example projects) by clicking here. |

ILLUSTRATION |
You will need to open the application that you use to send email messages. To illustrate the process, we will use Googles Gmail email application. The images shown for this process are based on the Gmail email client application. Open and log into the email application. You will obviously use the email application of your choice, so the images on the right may be somewhat different. Then click on the Compose button to create a new email message. |
A New Message window will open similar to that shown at the right. |
Enter the information for the message you want to send. |
With your email message finished, your next step is to add the files you want as attachments to the message. To start the attachment process, click on the paper clip icon on your email application (see the image to the right). |
Clicking the paper clip icon with open a window that will allow you to select the files that you want to attach. Find the files and select the one(s) to be attached to your email message by clicking on the fille name(s). The selected files will appear highlighted on the computer screen. In this example, all the selected files are picture/image (*.jpg) files. To select multiple files at the same time, hold down the <Ctrl> key on your keyboard as you click on the file names to select them. |
After youve selected all of the files to be attached to your email message, click on the Open button. |
The (picture) files will show as being attached to your message. |
Click the Send button to send the message with (picture) files attached. |
